California Sunshine

Good friends are like sunshine. Not only was it nice and warm in California, but we got to visit many great friends. Herman, Lindsay, Riley and baby Spencer.
We invaded the Ripon Starbucks with 2 babies, a 2 1/2 year old and the rest of us!

After the wedding (see other post), we stayed with Duane and Sue. Proud parents! Proud Grandpas!! Naomi Pena is 3 weeks older than Hazel. Fun to share the first time grandparent experience with Duane & Sue.

Fall, Friends, Fungi and Fish

Last weekend Duane and Sue came up for 3 wonderful days. Such fun with such good friends- who else would WILLINGLY spend 2+ days driving all over western Washington looking at houses. We had a fun dinner Sat night in town with Anne and Nate- and then enjoyed the view from Kerry Park overlooking the Seattle skyline. Sunday was worship at Mars Hill West Seattle- great sermon as usual- followed by a trip across the Sound to check out houses on the Kitsap Peninsula. We celebrated Sue's birthday in Poulsbo at "thatsa some Italian" restaurant. Back across the water Monday (had enough of the Washington State Ferry system, yet?) to actually go through a house that seemed a possiblility (but ended up not to be). We drove around the south end of the sound, and back to the airport. Whew! crazy weekend.

Today we celebrated the arrival of real cold fall weather and attended the Puget Sound Mycological Society (PSMS ???) show. After looking a seemingly hundreds of different northwest fungi, we decided it was better to buy our fungi at a store, rather than hunt them down in the forest. We went by Ballard Market and found chanterelles, oyster mushrooms and even lobster mushrooms on sale! But even better, this week marked the beginning of the local Dungeness crab season. Couldn't resist that! So it's chanterelle risotto and cracked crab for dinner tonight.
